Final Summary
I learned many things throughout this school year in Statistics and Probability class. After taking this class, I can take away an extensive amount of personal knowledge of statistics with me to college. Something that I took away from this class is how to read and understand various types of graphs as well as how to calculate different types of probabilities. I think that these are both things that I will take away because they are both things that I will need to use in my college classes regardless of what the class is. Being able to read different types of graphs is something that is going to come in handy in the future. Whether it be in school or in my future career, I think that it is going to do me some good. I also think that being able to calculate the probability of different things will help me. Whether it is in school or in my future career, I believe this subject will also do me some good. From calculated the probability of me failing a test, calculating my final grade for a class to possibly calculating the probability of a successful surgery for one of my future patients. I am so glad that I chose to take this class because I think that it is definitely going to help me out in the future.
Throughout the year, there were multiple things that posed as a challenge to me. However, something that I just could not wrap my mind around was the probability rules for compound events. Even though I had trouble with the multiplication and addition rules, the multiplication rules stuck with me the most. For some reason, I could not figure them out. I think the thing that confused me the most with the different rules of multiplication was when to use which formulas. When I did know which formula to use, I did not understand the (B/A) part of the conditional formula (Full formula: P(A)*P(B/A)). I never understood what (B/A) really meant. Eventually with help from my teacher, I was able to figure it out in time for the test. However, it was something that I struggled with for the longest time.
Throughout the year, I learned many valuable things during the course of this class. However, there was one thing that I think posed to be the most valuable. I think that the knowledge of being able to calculate different probabilities will definitely help me in the future. I think that this information will help me greatly when I am presented with different situations that have to deal with the medical field. Given that my current plan for my future is to become a nurse, there will be many opportunities when I am presented with different types of graphs and with the knowledge that I have been given, I will be able to read those. For the rest of my life, I will be presented with so many different situations and questions that I will be able to handle with my extensive knowledge of probabilities and such.
Something that we discussed in this class that I will be able to relate to my life and career is being able to calculate different probabilities as well as being able to read different types of graphs. I think that these two things will be able to help me in many different ways. I believe that with a career like nursing, being able to calculate probabilities for different situations and reading different types of graphs will suit me well. Calculating different probabilities for different situations will help me to be able to calculate success rates for different types of medications, probabilities for surgery outcomes, and positive outcomes for different types of medical treatments. I think that being able to read different types of graphs will help me when I am presented with different types of graphs that have to deal with medical scenarios.
I think that the knowledge and experiences that I have gained through this class are going to help me immensely in my everyday life as well as in my career. Statistics and probability is useful in many ways but it is especially useful in terms of medical situations. Statistics and probability can be used to tell of the successes of different medications, medical treatments, and many other things. Statistics can be used to interpret different types of medical information and data. The probability aspect of things will be useful to me during my everyday life by calculating different probabilities of different situations that arise.
